Program

The "Global Aspects of Magnetosphere-Ionosphere Coupling" workshop focuses on imaging, in-situ measurement, and theoretical modeling of the following phenomena:

  • Properties and dynamics of inner magnetospheric plasmas
  • Plasmasphere-ionosphere coupling
  • Wave activity in the inner magnetosphere
  • Ring current-ionosphere coupling
  • Ionosphere-thermosphere coupling
  • Auroral and subauroral phenomena

The program will consist of invited tutorial, "systems-level," and "focus" talks, along with contributed talks and posters, that will address the global attributes and behaviors of the coupled magnetosphere-ionosphere system and examine how this system is influenced or controlled by small-scale and cross-scale processes. A PDF version of the program will be available at this site once the program has been finalized.

Student Support

Student travel grants up to $1500.00 to cover airfare, lodging, car rental (if necessary), and food are available. (The registration fee will be waived for students participating in the meeting.) To apply for travel support, students should have their advisor or dissertation director send an e-mail describing their research interests and activities to Jerry Goldstein.
